| 2010 Selma Deitch "Champion for Children" Award |
On September 30, 2010 Child Health Services celebrated its 30th Anniversary at the Selma Deitch “Champion for Children” Award held at Southern New Hampshire University, Manchester, NH. The award has been established to recognize an outstanding individual who embodies her passion and dedication for improving the lives and future of low income children.
We are pleased to announce retired Manchester pediatrician Gene Lariviere as the first "Champion for Children" award recipient. In addition to being a founding member of Child Health Services and serving as the first Chair of our Board, Dr. Lariviere was a starting member of the Manchester-Bedford Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinic serving as Medical Director. An active community member, he was honored as the 2002 Manchester Citizen of the year for his professional and civic activities. "I have received many awards," said Lariviere, "but this one means the most. Selma was my hero." In retirement he continues to serve the field of pediatrics working with Dartmouth Medical School students and Dartmouth Hitchcock Pediatric residents.
