The Manchester Child Development Clinic perspective emphasizes the community based, family-centered model of care in which resources are shared and inter-clinic collaboration is of paramount importance. As one of only a few clinics with this model in the State of New Hampshire, the Child Development Clinic is a leader in providing comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for children from their birth through six years of age. These evaluations include a home visit, thorough review of medical/educational records, neuro-developmental physical examination, behavioral/cognitive assessment, and a formal report and parent conference. In certain cases, a school observation is scheduled as needed to clarify diagnoses.

On-going support is available to all families during and after the Child Development Clinic evaluation process.  Clinicians and coordinators provide a great deal of phone consultation and numerous in-person post evaluation meetings to discuss resources available and referral procedures.  Much of the support provided assists parents in understanding the Early Support Services, Preschool Special Education and early education systems. The Child Development Clinic encourages and supports families in how to work with these systems to advocate for their children’s needs.
